The second Sunday of May is known as Mother's day in Canada, to celebrate and honour all mothers and motherhood. Similarly, the third Sunday of June is Father's day. Instead of having two separate days to celebrate mom and dad, we have a day called 'Parents Day' in Korea to thank our parents for being who they are. May 8th is Parents day.
As a little girl, I remember having a dilemma because I couldn't decide which day to celebrate. On one hand, following the Korean rules and celebrate Parents day made sense because we are from Korea. On the other hand, when in Rome, do as the Romans do. In the end, we decided to celebrate Mother's day instead of Parent's day. I'm still writing this post because my mom is currently in Korea. I like to throw surprises, so I would often get a gift, make a card and surprise my mom. I remember this one time, I think it was for my mom's birthday, I knew that I was gonna be away on her birthday, so I prepared something for her and hid it somewhere that she couldn't find. I called her on the day of her birthday and surprised her. My mom was really happy about it. It wasn't anything big or expensive, but it's the thought that counts.
I'm thankful for my parents. I'm thankful for what they have provided for me. I'm thankful because they are my parents. I'm thankful for their support and love. I think they did a good job raising me and my sister. Thank you mom and dad, and I love you!
