no.7 130507 Thank you for my memory (part 1)

I hear people playing baseball outside at the park in front of my place. That 'ping' noise of an aluminum bat hitting a ball is a familiar sound for me, as it is something that I heard quite regularly when I was young. It's not because I joined some baseball club at school. There was a middle school in front of my house and the students often played baseball after classes were finished. Now that I think of it, that school must have had a really bad team that they had to practice so frequently. Well, I'm quite happy if they had a bad team because I enjoyed hearing that 'ping' sound and people talking aloud in the distance. I remember looking outside to see if I could get a glimpse of the game although I didn't know much about baseball.

I'm not sure what was so amazing about this sound that caught my attention, leading me to remember and feel certain way whenever I hear it. Perhaps it's because I have good hearing (I think) so I'm good at remembering different sounds. But I know that it isn't the sound itself that I find it so memorable. It's probably the emotions and the thoughts associated at the time I was first exposed to the sound that made me appreciate this sound. Something that could be just an annoying noise to someone can be a good memory to someone else. I am thankful for this memory I have of my childhood, and the ability to remember things in a personal way.
