Pray for Mexico |
When I open the internet browser, my home is set to New York Times. 8 out of 10 times, the headlines are about business and the stock market, which don't really capture my attention. But today was different. I see a headline "Deadly Mexico storms... death toll at 97..." Suddenly the faces of people I met in Mexico pop up in my mind. One of the very first things that came to my mind was the family our short term mission team met in Cerro del Cuatro and their house that our team built. I started to worry if the house was okay. I worried about the possible landslide because the house is on a hill. As I was waiting for the article to load, I really hoped that the twin storms Manuel and Ingrid didn't affect Guadalajara and other areas that our team ministered to.
After a quick research, I learned that the Pacific and Gulf Coasts had the worst disaster. Guadalajara is about four hours away from the Pacific Ocean, but it seems like it wasn't much affected by the storm. However, Manzanillo was one of the areas that the storm swept through. I haven't gotten a chance to read much about the storm, but it seems like Manzanillo too, survived through the storm.
Although the area I visited weren't greatly affected by the storm, I pray that God will watch over them, and other areas of Mexico. I pray for the safety and protection of the people who are in fear because of this natural disaster. I am mourning with you Mexico, and I am praying for you.
